I like black and white pictures :-D

These ones are from Girona, made this morning, with the mobile phone, in black and white.

They remember me the old pictures of Girona, when the cameras were all black and white. It seems that nothing changed in the houses near Onyar river!

Minimalistic Presepio in Brescia

I shot this two pics in Brescia a few days ago. My dad spotted this Presepio while we were walking. It's strange not only because it's made of wooden silhouettes, but also because it's not very easy to see: it's in a court below the level of the street, behind a wall.

I think it'd be very nice in the evening when it's all lit up.

As usual, bear with the quality of the pics: they were shot with my mobile, that isn't as good as matgala's new one! ;-)

Panoramic view from home

I have a new mobile phone with a camera. I tried it doing a panoramic picture from home, in a rainy day. I will try to do the same in a sunny day.

This is my first panoramic picture, so it can be... not perfect :-)

Pellston airport

I think that this is the last picture of the USA serie. They were taken a long time ago and I could have put more of them, but I think that in the following weeks I will have more interesting (and new) photos.

Detroit airport

This is not exactly a picture, but it was made by my camera. This video was taken in the Detroit airport, almost a year ago...

It was recorded when I was returning home. You can't listen to the music with the video, but the lights were moving at the sound of music :-)

I remember that when I was going there, and after many hours of travel, I was feeling a bit dizzy...

I went for a half-day trip to Manchester last Saturday. It rained all day, but it paused for a few minutes and that afforded me the time to shoot a few pictures with my mobile. As usual, bear with the quality: it's a mobile with a tiny lens, the lighting conditions were harsh, and I'm very bad at taking photos anyway! :-)

There's also another photo but I can't seem to upload it from the office. I'll try again when I get home.

This flower is "dent de lleó" (dandelion in English, but the translation is "Lion's tooth"). There are a lot of them around home these days. People say that you must make a wish and blow and if you can make fly all the white seeds, your wish will come true.

Highway treat

I shot this picture last November, while I was stuck in a traffic jam on a highway in the Appennini mountains. It's a small (probably ancient) town built around a cliff. It's the kind of thing you can see while travelling in Italy.

The full-size picture is strange, it looks like a fake, like if I added the houses with Photoshop. Well, I didn't! I'm not that good with Photoshop... :-)

The Haunted House

This could be the perfect set for a horror movie.

For what I know, it's an abandoned house, and it's been abandoned for many years now. It's surrounded by trees that partially hide it from view, that's the only part of it you can see from the outside.

The building caught fire a few years ago but you can't see the damages from the outside.

When I was a kid, my schoolmates used to tell me scary stories about this house and their adventurous explorations of it. I wouldn't believe a single word of those but this house still has a misterious aura for me.

White Christmas

This is not what you think when you hear "white Christmas", but it's the white Christmas I had. All the photos are taken from the car, so they are not very good, and they are from the North of Spain. The fog was our companion almost all the travel and it had been there for some days, so the trees (and everything) was covered with a white ice cap.

Santa Squash

Climbing Santas. I wonder if there is the same phenomenon outside Italy. Here it is all the rage and you can see one of those on about 50% of homes in Brescia.

Have you ever seen a more stupid Christmas decoration?

The italian comedian/actress/completely crazy woman Luciana Littizzetto (site in Italian only, sorry) expressed very well the same feelings I have for those silly things during the December 18th "Che tempo che fa" TV show (site in Italian, too: complain with them not with me!):

"Enough with the climbing Santas! ... They make Santa Claus look like an idiot who missed the chimney and got squashed on the wall instead!"

I've seen a life-sized climbing Santa a couple of days ago in Brescia, too bad I couldn't take a picture of that: it was the mother of all stupid decorations. Enjoy these smaller ones.

Canino - Part 1 - The Vulci Castle

And now, for something completely different.

This wonderful castle is located near the beautiful town of Canino, on the border between Tuscany and Lazio. It is known as Castello di Vulci (Vulci's Castle) and was built in the XIII century.

The castle was built over the ruins of the ancient etruscan city of Vulci: the city was already active in the VIII century B.C., and was quite important until it was conquered by the Romans in the III century B.C. Today the castle is a very nice museum of etruscan art and is also used as an incredibly suggestive stage for various kinds of shows (concerts, dances, and so on).

The bridge you see down there is the famous Ponte dell'Abbadia (Abbadia's bridge) and is 2000 years old! In the same picture you also get a glance of Maremma, where the italian "cowboys" (called Butteri) still live and work. Buffalo Bill met them while touring Europe with his "Wild West Show", and was very impressed by their skill.

Brescia - Piazza della Loggia

Although Brescia is not the most beautiful city in Italy (no, it doesn't make the second place either), it does have a few interesting views.

I shot these pictures two years ago at Christmas time. They show a few views of Piazza della Loggia.

The building on the left is the "Loggia" itself, that gives the name to the square. I should know by now what this building actually is, the truth is I'm a bit confused about it... ;-) It is, or at least it used to be, a place where important administrative decision are taken. I know for sure it's been used at least once for the MilleMiglia winners prize-giving.

The fuzzy thing pictured below on the left is a clock and is just opposite the Loggia. No, I don't know how to read it... :-) The two statues on the top are supposed to bang the bell every hour, I'm not sure they actually work though...

The nice tiny wooden houses shown down-right form the so-called "Mercatino di S. Lucia" (Saint. Lucy's Market), and it's just beside the Loggia. It opens in Christmas time and it's a great place to find nice unuseful overexpensive Christmas gifts if you're desperate and willing to empty your wallet. :-)

The last picture is taken from right under the clock and it shows the south exit from the square. On the left are "i Portici", one of the main shopping points in Brescia, where you can find fashion stores, jewelries and so on.

Hello. I'm the "Marcello" Matgala mentions in the first post of this blog. I joined her in the photoblog because I wanted a photoblog, too, but I'm too lazy to mantain my own! ;-)

The idea behind this blog is very simple. It doesn't matter where you live: the things you see everyday are dull and boring for you, but could be interesting for people that have never seen them, because they live somewhere else, in another city, maybe in another continent!

So here we go: this photo is taken from my home and shows Brescia (Italy) under the snow. My dad shot it a few days ago.

La idea de crear aquest fotoblog provè d'una conversa amb en Marcello. Les fotos que hi haurà seran meves i fetes amb la meva càmera, a no ser que digui el contrari. Espero que sigui un blog compartit, ja que jo tampoc faig tantes fotos, però ja es veurà. En cas de fer-lo un blog compartit, es pot canviar el nom, l'adreça i el que sigui. No hi haurà gaire text, que per alguna cosa és un blog de fotos, però el text que hi hagi estarà repetit en català i anglès, perquè ho pugui tothom (o, almenys, tothom que m'interessa que ho entengui).

The idea of the creation of this photo comes from a talk with Marcello. If I don't say anything, the pictures that I will post here will be mine and they will be done with my camera. I hope that this blog would be a shared blog, because I don't take many photos, but this is something that we will see. If I find someone to share this blog, I can change the name, the url or whatever that the people who share the blog with me want to change. There won't be many text, because this is a photoblog, but all the text I put here I will write it in Catalan and English, in order to let everybody understand it.
